Leaving Hobbs was bittersweet, so enjoyed time with dear friends. Thanks again to Mike & Donna for their hospitality and mooch-docking.

We left early and caught the sunrise as we left New Mexico, goathead ( devil's head) thorns remained with us even after we got home, found them in the carpet under the steering wheel. Jojo picked up several, which meant i got them next removing from his paws. Nasty things they are!

As we motored through the countryside of Texas, many varied sights came in view before we entered the Hill Country where the wines of Texas are grown.

Food was good, service great. Jojo enjoyed his pup cup ice cream.

There is much work involved to get to the Riverwalk, Finding a lot with spaces to park is difficult, and once found parking is from 20$-30$ per day, depending on where you park.

Houston, Texas - 8.8-10.2021

We took I-10 to Houston, and made our way to Lakeview RV Resort located near the Houston University ad Texas Medical Center. We are visiting my nephew, his wife and their new daughter, EM my great. Houston traffic and interstate system is challenging to navigate, as construction is everywhere. thankfully our RV park was easily accessed off of Alt 90 on the SW side of Houston. What was not easily found in this area was restaurants and grocery stores. Found a Mercado about 5 miles from the RV Park.

1) No fuel purchased

2) 194 miles driven today; 4,488 miles traveled so far from home.

3) Lakeview RV Resort $65 per night; we are here 3 nights, total $195.00This campground has a large pool, BBQ areas in each quadrant around the large lake in the middle of the park. Large pull through sites with full hook-ups, 50/30 Amp service.

4) We will spend an evening with my nephew's family, an evening with Wanderlodge friends that live in Houston and a day in Galveston.

Houston D1 - Wanderlodge Family Visit 8.8.2021

We reached out to the Burgess Family and met for supper our first evening in Houston. Patty found a dog friendly restaurant, with the address we headed via the Expressway maze to meet our Wanderlodge Family that we met via attending WOG together.

Houston covers 665 square miles with 2.3 million people. The Beltway - 8 alone is 88 miles of expressway surrounding Houston.

We met at the Lazy Dog in NE Houston, enjoyed visiting with Patty, Paul & the family. The kiddos have grown since WOG 2019. We had a wonderful evening visiting, watching the kiddos enjoying the build a sundae. Thanks to Patty & Paul for meeting us and a lovely evening

Houston D2 - Family Visit 8.9.2021

Looking for a B'fast spot we drove toward the medical district and found a line around the block of others who were looking for "Houston's Best Breakfast" deterred by the crowd, we enjoyed the architecture, observed a "Covid response team" cleaning a "squatter camp" under overpasses and settled for lunch at a drive-thru. The medical district has beautiful buildings and cascading live oak trees.

We get our call and Racheal is headed home, so we get ready for an afternoon of EM, family and happy times. EM is just delightful, such a busy bee crawling, eats like no tomorrow and loves her sweet parents. They have a lovely home, which Chase had built many special projects for his bride. Now with EM they are overjoyed.

We visited and played until Chase got home from work, then enjoyed a nice TexMex meal at Pappasito's Cantina, found in their neighborhood.

Houston D3 . . . Galveston - 8.10.2021

Driving to Galveston allowed us to know our exit toward Louisiana. The drive is beautiful, as is Galveston. So many beautiful Victorian homes , found a CG that we would like to return for a stay, the beach was so inviting and then lunch at the port. The owner of Landry's yacht was moored behind Fisherman's Warf where we ate lunch, pretty sure Tilman Fertitta was there in the private dining room adjacent to the private dining room. Food was off the hook good.

Moody Mansion - stunning Victorian!

Bishops Palace is also called Gresham’s Castle

The Sacred Heart Catholic Church

We will return Galveston! Sandpiper RV Resort, save us a site in the future!
